Farming against the odds
- Palestinian farmers pay up to 30 times what Israeli settlers pay for water.
- Their olive trees are often attacked by settlers.
- They’re prohibited from drilling wells on their land.
- Farmers can’t build shelters for shade, or even use electricity.
- Un-farmed land can be legally confiscated.
Simple. Scaleable. Impactful.
- Treedom has teamed up with the Palestinian Farmer’s Union to plant small scale Freedom Farms across the West Bank.
- Each farm comprises 250 olive saplings, irrigated and fenced for protection.
- By planting olive tree farms, we do what governments have been unable to do: revitalize the West Bank peacefully.
Small footprint, big change
- A mature Freedom Farm produces $36,000 of olive oil every year—a bounty that feeds families, unites communities for harvest, and greens the environment.
- Because olive trees live an average of 500 years, a farm planted today benefits generations to come.
- Each Freedom Farm will generate $18 million of olive oil over its lifetime.
We support equality
- Fifty percent of Freedom Farms are owned or managed by Palestinian women, empowering them within their families and communities.
- Our female farmers support each other through local Women’s Cooperatives.
